ACB charge-sheets ex-DGHS, two others in ₹700-crore medical procurement scam

The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) has filed a nearly 12,000-page chargesheet before a Rouse Avenue court against former Director-General of Health Services Dr. Vatsala Aggarwal and two others in an alleged ₹700-crore medical procurement scam.

“Fresh chargesheet is received by way of assignment. It be checked and registered,” Special Judge Vidya Prakash said on Wednesday.

The chargesheet names Dr. Aggarwal, Dr. Vinod Kumar Ranga, former head of the Central Procurement Agency (CPA) and Neeraj Chopra, and includes transaction-trail documents.

The court noted that sanction sought by the ACB to prosecute the accused was yet to be granted.

They have been charge-sheeted under Sections 7A and 13(1)(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Sections 61(2), 316(5), 318(4) and 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
