Mendu Lokanadham, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Deputy Executive Officer in-charge of Tirumala Srivari temple, was arrested early on Thursday after the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials completed simultaneously raids at his four premises and linked him in a disproportionate assets case.
The searches which began on Wednesday concluded early early on Thursday. ACB officials formally took Mr. Lokanadham into their custody and produced him before the ACB Court in Nellore, to be sent to judicial remand.
The ACB had seized movable and immovable assets worth ₹5 crore, including 2 kg gold, 6.5 kg of silver and ₹.12.5 lakh in cash.
The arrest has triggered a political response, with the TTD’s former trust board chairman and YSRCP senior leader Bhumana Karunakar Reddy being the first to react to the incident, raising eyebrows in the public domain.
