ABVP, Left-leaning student groups clash on Jadavpur University campus

KOLKATA: A clash broke out between members of the ABVP and Left-leaning student groups at Jadavpur University early on Thursday, with both sides accusing each other of bringing outsiders onto the campus, varsity sources said.According to news agency PTI, several students were injured in the clash, with some being taken to a hospital for treatment, the sources said.The confrontation reportedly began over a general meeting of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Students' Union (FETSU) on Wednesday and continued late into the night, a university source said.Amid the escalating tension, Jadavpur University's administrative building, Aurobindo Bhavan, was locked, while groups of students gathered outside the premises.University sources said fires were also allegedly set at several locations on the campus in the early hours of Thursday.Videos circulating in students' social media groups showed several people raising slogans and attempting to enter locked university buildings.Both groups have accused each other of bringing…
