ABVP calls for Statewide college bandh over education issues

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has called for a State-wide bandh of colleges on Wednesday (August 5), seeking that the Andhra Pradesh government address issues relating to higher education. The call was announced after ABVP activists staged a protest outside the Visakhapatnam District Collector’s office on Tuesday (August 4, 2026).
ABVP Visakhapatnam district convener Prasad Nallabelli said the agitation was aimed at pressing the government to resolve long-pending issues in the education sector.
Speaking on the occasion, Visakha Vibhag convener Nithin urged the government to release the pending fee reimbursement dues, which the organisation claimed amounted to ₹6,800 crore, withdraw G.O. No. 77, complete admissions to all courses and announce a common academic calendar for universities.
