NEW DELHI: Supreme Court Tuesday disapproved Assam's Congress-era law that allowed a large number of teachers engaged in private schools and charitable educational institutions to be appointed/absorbed in govt employment and barred the present govt from appointing or absorbing any person as a teacher in a school or college if he/she did not have requisite qualifications.Senior advocate Ranjit Kumar, appearing for petitioner Rajesh Chauhan, told a bench of CJI Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana that teachers engaged on an ad hoc basis in private schools were getting absorbed as teachers in govt service in utter disregard of prescribed educational qualifications.
