The court has sought the Trinamool leader’s voice sample in connection with an FIR for making inflammatory remarks during the campaign for the West Bengal Assembly elections.
Last week, the Calcutta High Court, which had granted the Trinamool leader interim protection from arrest, said that the protection granted to him was based on his assurance of cooperating with the investigation. The Court asked why he had yet to furnish his voice sample in connection with the case.
Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya of the Calcutta High Court had directed Abhishek Banerjee to appear before the court and submit his voice sample by July 15.
