ISLAMABAD - Awaam Pakistan Party chief and former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi along with former finance minister Miftah Ismail yesterday met Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazal) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to discuss the country's prevailing political situation, national challenges and the evolving political landscape. The meeting focused on the overall political situation, current national affairs and developments on the political front. The leaders exchanged views on the challenges facing the country, issues confronting the public and matters relating to politics and democracy. They also stressed the need to make political contacts and consultations among different parties more effective in the prevailing circumstances, said a JUI-F statement. The meeting also covered the supremacy of the Constitution, an effective role for Parliament, protection of democratic values and the need for political stability in the country.
