This reflects the intense political rivalry and corruption allegations between opposing parties in Delhi's local governance.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Jarnail Singh on Thursday filed a defamation case against Water and PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh over “false” allegations that the former demanded money from Public Works Department (PWD) officials and a contractor.
Mr. Jarnail said he had filed a complaint against the Minister with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) about an alleged corruption in the construction of a road. “For the last four days, in an attempt to defame me, the Minister has been putting pressure on department officials and the contractor at different times to claim that I demanded money from them,” Mr. Jarnail said.
“If the Minister has even a little shame and accepts that he was wrong to slap the young man, lose his temper after seeing the corruption and unlawfully defame me, he should apologise within the next seven days. Otherwise, legal action will be taken further,” he added.
