There’s just a week left for social grant beneficiaries to migrate to Postbank’s black cards or risk losing access to their funds.

More than 1.8 million social grant beneficiaries have already migrated, but tens of thousands have not yet made the switch. Postbank on Monday warned that this deadline will not be extended.

According to Postbank spokesperson Bongani Diako, the current black cards migration process, which started in April 2026, targeted about 420 000 social grant beneficiaries.

“Less than 80 000 beneficiaries still need to complete their migration. The beneficiaries that are still required to complete their migrations are predominantly located in KwaZulu Natal (20 000), Western Cape (17 000), Eastern Cape (15 000) and Gauteng (14 000),” he said.

Chief commercial officer Thami Cele said the state-owned bank’s priority was to ensure that no beneficiary experiences any interruptions to their grant payments.
