A Ukrainian arms maker says it's got a new high-speed interceptor built to hunt Russia's jet-powered Shaheds
Ukrainian defense firm SkyFall has developed the P1-Sun JetKiller, an interceptor drone capable of speeds up to 230 mph. The drone is specifically designed to counter Russia's new jet-powered Shahed-3 attack drones.
Why it matters
The development of high-speed interceptor drones is a critical technological evolution in the ongoing conflict, as Ukraine seeks cost-effective ways to neutralize advanced Russian loitering munitions.
The P1-Sun JetKiller is designed to fly at a top speed of 230 mph, allowing it to catch Russian Geran-3s. SkyFall A Ukrainian drone maker said it has made an interceptor that can reach top speeds of 230 mph. That puts SkyFall's P1-Sun JetKiller in comfortable range to take down Russia's jet-powered Shaheds. Russia has been increasingly using these more advanced loitering munitions to bombard Ukraine. Ukrainian defense firm SkyFall said on Wednesday that it has developed an interceptor drone capable of taking down Russia's jet-powered Shaheds, a much faster class of attack drone that Moscow is using more regularly. The P1-SUN JetKiller is designed with a top flight speed of 370 kmph, or 230 mph, at maximum altitudes of 9,000 meters, or roughly 30,000 feet, SkyFall said in a statement.
