GSL Medical College Managing Director Dr. Ganni Sandeep on Monday announced financial aid of ₹20 lakh to the family of 28-year-old Dr. Karake Priyanka, who recently died days after she suffered injuries in an accident. The move comes a day after the State government announced an ex gratia of ₹20 lakh to Priyanka’s family and assured the reimbursement of her medical expenses.
She was a first-year student of Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Dermatology at the GSL Medical College in Rajamahendravaram. Priyanka succumbed to her injuries on August 9, after she suffered severe injuries on August 3 after a car rammed the vehicle she was riding pillion and she was declared brain dead by the doctors. Police took two persons into custody, who were allegedly intoxicated and in the car that was involved in the accident.
