A.P. govt. to release two pending DAs; benefits enhanced for elderly pensioners

These measures, which include pension hikes for the elderly, are expected to cost the state approximately ₹2,880 crore annually.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday announced a series of measures for the government employees and pensioners, including the appointment of the 12th Pay Revision Commission (PRC), the release of two pending dearness allowances (DAs), and enhanced benefits for elderly pensioners. The measures are expected to entail an additional annual expenditure of ₹2,880 crore.
Mr. Naidu held discussions with representatives of 11 government employees’ unions at his camp office in Undavalli and announced the decisions after considering their demands. The union leaders expressed satisfaction over the announcements.
The government agreed to release the DAs due from July 1, 2024, and January 1, 2025, with the two DAs to be paid from October 1, 2026. It also agreed to credit the surrender leave dues pertaining to 2022 to employees’ accounts by the Sankranti in 2027.
