A.P. government gives nod for new Rajamahendravaram police commissionerate

The Andhra Pradesh government has officially approved the establishment of a new police commissionerate in Rajamahendravaram. The new office will be led by an officer of Inspector General or Deputy IGP rank and will oversee three territorial zones.

The reorganization of police administration is a significant administrative shift aimed at improving law enforcement efficiency and executive oversight in the region.
The State government has given its consent to the proposed police Commissionerate headquartered at Rajamahendravaram, and has has directed Director General of Police, Harish Kumar Gupta, to begin the process of reorganising the existing posts for the Commissionerate.
In a G.O.No. 198 issued on October 5, Principal Secretary to the government Kumar Vishwajeet said; “The permission has been accorded to the DGP for the establishment of Rajamahendravaram Police Commissionerate, headed by a Commissioner of Police in the rank of Inspector General of Police/Deputy IGP with executive magistrate powers”.
Headquartered at Rajamahendravaram, the Commissionerate will consist of three territorial zones, with jurisdiction coterminous with the existing East Godavari revenue district and East Godavari Police District, stated Mr. Kumar Viswajeet.
