The government formed a five-member High- Power Committee (HPC) for conservation of tigers in Andhra Pradesh as per the directions of Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Environment and Forests K. Pawan Kalyan. The decision came following the recent suspicious death of a tigress in the Nallamala forest, according to an official release.
It was stated that the government called for a comprehensive report on tiger conservation and guidelines for drafting future action plans.
Mr. Kalyan ordered that proactive measures be taken to protect the animals and directed the officials to conduct a detailed field study on how to prevent poaching and address related issues.
