A.P. allocates ₹10,200 crore to set up safe drinking water facilities in Urban Local Bodies

The Andhra Pradesh government has initiated a comprehensive urban infrastructure overhaul, allocating ₹10,200 crore to establish safe drinking water facilities across 123 municipalities in the State, according to Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana.

Reviewing development works at the VMRDA meeting hall alongside local legislators, Mr. Narayana emphasised that the administration was prioritising essential civic amenities, including roads, protected water supply, drainage networks, street lighting, and underground drainage systems.

Safe drinking water projects are receiving ₹10,200 crore under the AMRUT scheme and other initiatives to build pipeline networks and deliver treated water to every household.

Additionally, ₹5,500 crore has been sanctioned by the State government specifically for construction of roads and repairs across municipal limits, while ₹4,200 crore is being spent under the Urban Challenge Fund to fast-track underground drainage projects across the State, the Minister said.
