Calcutta, July 30: Calcutta is in the grip of an epidemic of Beriberi and during the last week there were about 40 cases in Kidderpore and Shambazar districts, 3 of which proved fatal. The Health authorities believe that the epidemic is more widespread than is apparent and the statistics of the districts have been called for.
