A Discord Alternative – Echoed
Echoed is a new Discord alternative built with Tauri and Rust that emphasizes low memory usage, privacy, and a feature-rich experience without bloat. It offers standard communication tools like voice, video, and task boards while explicitly rejecting ads and tracking.
Why it matters
It highlights the growing demand for lightweight, privacy-focused alternatives to resource-heavy Electron-based desktop applications.
Discord eats 700MB+ of RAM. Echoed uses ~150MB. Built on Tauri (Rust), not Electron. No ads, no tracking, no face scans. Voice, video, screen share, task boards — everything your squad needs without the bloat.
