It was an interesting day out for some school students in Belagavi on Friday, who competed in a science quiz named after legendary mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan and made working models to explain scientific principles.

Over 350 students participated in The Hindu Ramanujan Spark Quest 2026 and The Hindu Avishkar Science Fest 2026. Students from various schools across the city participated in the two events. Some even travelled from places as far as Gokak and Bailhongal. The event was organised in association with Excellent Science and Commerce PU College, Moodabidri.

While some students created models to explain existing principles of science and mathematics, some others tried to explore new ideas. A few tried to find solutions to everyday problems, while others tried to imagine life in the future.
