'84 rules changed': Congress accuses Uttarakhand CM of handing power project meant for PSUs to Adani

The Congress on Thursday (September 17, 2026) alleged that a thermal power project originally conceived for public sector undertakings was "diverted, redesigned and delivered on a platter" to businessman Gautam Adani by the Uttarakhand government, and said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will get a befitting answer for its creation of a monopoly in the upcoming Assembly elections.
The Opposition party asked why did the BJP government kill its own UJVN-THDC project only to create a 1,320 MW opportunity that perfectly fits Adani's Korba plant, and why 84 tender conditions were rewritten.
There was no immediate reaction from the Uttarakhand and Central governments, the Adani group, as well as the BJP, on the Congress' allegations.
