801 students graduate at first convocation of St. Aloysius

St. Aloysius (Deemed-to-be University) in Mangaluru held its first convocation ceremony, graduating 801 students. Keynote speakers emphasized the importance of character, integrity, and social responsibility over purely career-focused education.

As many as 801 students graduated, with 56 receiving ranks, at the first convocation of St. Aloysius (Deemed-to-be University), Mangaluru, on Saturday.
The convocation was declared open by Fr. Dionysius Vaz, Chancellor and Provincial of the Karnataka Jesuit Province. A solemn oath-taking ceremony was led by Fr Melwin D’Cunha, Pro-Vice-Chancellor. Graduates marked the occasion by turning their tassels, following which the university choir led the anthem.
Delivering the keynote address, C. Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of O.P. Jindal Global University, Haryana, congratulated the graduates as pioneers of the institution’s legacy. He reminded them, “Education is not about careers. It’s about character.” He stressed that knowledge must be embedded in values to become a transformative force for good. He urged the students to uphold integrity, compassion, and social responsibility while navigating an uncertain world.
