8,711 tonnes of fertilizers available in Virudhunagar district, says Collector
Virudhunagar district officials confirmed a significant stock of fertilizers for the upcoming sowing season during a farmers' grievances meeting. The meeting also addressed local issues, including land ownership disputes and allegations of gold swindling by a cooperative society.

Virudhunagar district is in possession of 3,826.7 tonnes of urea, 1,927.4 tonnes of DAP and 269.2 tonnes of muriate of potash, said Virudhunagar Collector, N.O. Sukhaputra.
Addressing the monthly farmers’ grievances redressal meeting here on Friday, the Collector said that a total of 8,711 tonnes of various fertilizers, including 2,330 tonnes of mixed fertilizer and 357.4 tonnes of single super phosphate were in stock in the district.
Farmers could make use of the fertilizers for the upcoming sowing season, he said.
A farmer, Vairamuthu, created flutter at the meeting hall by rolling on the floor in protest against what he claimed inordinate delay in giving patta for his ancestral farm land.
He said that he had given at least 40 petitions of the various revenue officials in the last five years but no action had been taken so far.
