705 NPR recruits graduate after first joint cross-community training in Meru

705 National Police Reserve (NPR) recruits drawn from 10 counties graduated from basic recruits training at the Magado Field Training Camp in Meru County on Wednesday, adding to the pool of reservists supporting national security operations in border and remote areas. The recruits are the second batch to undergo training at the newly established camp, following more than 4,000 reservists who graduated from basic recruits training there in June. The month-long programme brought together recruits from different communities for standardised training for the first time, including 11 chiefs who underwent training to sharpen their skills in firearm handling, field operations and community relations. Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen described the joint training as a first in Kenya's history, saying it was intended to foster cohesion among reservists drawn from communities that have historically experienced conflict.
