The author (left) said she didn't think she was a cruise person. Taking a trip with some of her mom friends and their kids changed her mind. Courtesy of Elizabeth Mitchell Kadar. A mom friend convinced 3 of us to take our 7 kids on a cruise. I didn't think I was a cruise person, but this trip totally changed my mind. Our kids had a blast while we enjoyed some adults-only time on Royal Caribbean's Star of the Seas. Ew, I could never be a cruise person. Or so I thought. Then I had kids and realized my ideal vacation of wandering cobblestone streets, enjoying a cocktail at sunset, or booking an 8 p.m. dinner reservation at a restaurant that definitely doesn't have a kids' menu, is the opposite of relaxing when you're going to have small children by your side.
