IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu said the free breakfast scheme for students of government schools is aimed at improving their physical growth and concentration, thereby contributing to better learning outcomes. The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that no child in Telangana goes to school hungry, he added.
He was speaking after inaugurating a centralised community kitchen at Manthani, the headquarters of the Assembly constituency he represents, in Peddapalli district on Monday.
The mechanised kitchen was established at an estimated cost of ₹7.5 crore under Singareni Collieries Company Limited’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Operated by the Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation (HKMCF), the kitchen has the capacity to prepare 10,000 idlis, 3,000 dosas and 5,600 puris an hour under hygienic conditions, officials said.
