The Delhi Food Safety Department on Monday destroyed around 508 kg of spurious paneer seized during an inspection at Okhla Sabzi Mandi as part of a two-day enforcement drive ahead of Raksha Bandhan.
The Department has stated that legal action has been initiated under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and the relevant rules and regulations.
During the drive, officials have also collected 22 enforcement samples of various food items from different districts in Delhi. The samples have been sent to designated laboratories for analysis, the Department said in a statement.
Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh said food safety remains a priority, particularly during the festive season when demand for milk products, paneer, sweets, edible oils and other food items increases.
