5 held for assaulting police, damaging public, private properties

Police in Thisaiyanvilai have arrested five individuals for assaulting officers and damaging public and private property during a recent temple festival. The suspects allegedly attacked a fuel station and multiple vehicles while fleeing the scene.

Five persons have been arrested for allegedly assaulting the police and ransacking public properties and private vehicles at Thisaiyanvilai recently.
According to Superintendent of Police Vishwesh Balasubramaniam Shastri, a group of bike-laden youth, who assaulted the policemen during a temple festival at Thisaiyanvilai on July 24, damaged the public properties while fleeing.
They also assaulted the workers of a fuel station while filling up fuel for their bikes. After smashing the fuel dispenser with machete, they threatened the workers at knifepoint and escaped without paying for the fuel.
The gang also attacked a car parked on Ittamozhi Road and damaged an autorickshaw and two mini cargo vehicles with the weapons they were carrying.
The Thisaiyanvilai police, who received separate complaints from the affected, registered five cases in this connection.
