5 for 5: Starc destroys Bangladesh top order in stunning opening to Second Test
Australian cricketer Mitchell Starc delivered a dominant performance in the Second Test against Bangladesh, taking five wickets early in the match. His efforts helped Australia recover from a shock loss in the First Test as they aim to square the series.
Why it matters
This performance highlights a significant momentum shift in an international Test cricket series, impacting the standings and morale of both national teams.
Australian paceman Mitchell Starc has single-handedly banished the memories of a shock First Test loss to Bangladesh with a destructive spell to begin the Second Test in Mackay.
Just as he did a week ago in Darwin, Australian captain Pat Cummins won the toss, but this time he opted to send Bangladesh in on a sunny and humid morning at Mackay's Great Barrier Reef Arena.
Starc took a devastating 5-5 off his first six overs and the carnage began immediately with the left arm paceman taking a wicket off the first ball of the match when he had opener Shafiul Islam caught by Cameron Green.
