5,000-litre milk chilling centre opened in Pudukottai
A new 5,000-litre milk chilling centre has been inaugurated in Pudukottai to support local dairy farmers by improving storage and collection infrastructure. The government also distributed loan subsidies and inaugurated mobile fair price shops to enhance local services.

A new 5,000-litre capacity bulk milk chilling centre has been established at Kottaikadu in Karambakudi taluk of Pudukkottai district to improve milk collection, chilling, and storage facilities for dairy farmers.
Established at a cost of ₹24 lakh under the National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD), the centre was inaugurated by Minister for Labour Welfare and Skill Development C. Mohamed Farvas.
The centre will procure around 3,000 litres of milk every day, collected during morning and evening sessions from 28 milk cooperative societies in the surrounding areas through two milk collection routes.
The facility aims at improving the quality and shelf life of procured milk and to provide better milk collection and chilling infrastructure for dairy farmers. The establishment of additional milk cooperative societies in the surrounding areas is expected to boost production and farmers’ income.
