480 Chinese manja bobbins worth ₹7.5 lakh seized in Hyderabad

Hyderabad police seized 480 bobbins of banned Chinese manja worth approximately ₹7.5 lakh from a kite shop owner who had allegedly procured the stock from Rajasthan.
The accused, Abhishek Singh, 26, a resident of Puranapul, was apprehended in Kalapathar on October 6 by the Charminar Zone Task Force along with Kalapathar police.
Police seized 10 cartons containing 480 bobbins of Mono Gold synthetic nylon glass-coated manja and two mobile phones from him.
According to police, Singh runs a kite shop in the Mangalhat area and had ordered the consignment from a person identified as Mohsin, a resident of Jaipur, Rajasthan. The consignment was transported to Hyderabad through a private transport service.
Singh had allegedly planned to stock and sell the banned manja to retail shopkeepers and customers in and around Hyderabad at higher prices for kite flying during Sankranti.
