48 dengue cases reported in Erode this month
Erode district has reported 48 new dengue cases this month, bringing the annual total to 480. Local health officials have deployed hundreds of checkers to eliminate mosquito-breeding sites and established special hospital wards to manage the outbreak.

Forty-eight dengue cases have been reported in Erode district this month, including eight cases on Monday (September 21), said District Health Officer P. Aruna.
The district has recorded 480 dengue cases so far this year. Ten persons have also been affected by scrub typhus. As many as 1,209 Domestic Breeding Checkers (DBCs) have been deployed across the district to identify and eliminate mosquito-breeding sources, she added.
The Erode Corporation has deployed another 436 DBCs to check for breeding sources of Aedes aegypti , the dengue-causing mosquito.
