₹424-crore project to ensure 24X7 drinking water supply to Ongole
The Andhra Pradesh government has launched a ₹424-crore project to provide 24/7 drinking water to Ongole residents. Additionally, a new five-star Radisson Hotel project was announced to boost local tourism and economic development.

The Andhra Pradesh government has undertaken AMRUT 2.0 scheme at a cost of ₹424.42 crore to ensure round-the-clock drinking water supply to the residents of Ongole in Prakasam district, said IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh has said.
Mr. Loesh laid the foundation stone for a major drinking water project at Rangarayudu Cheruvu in Ongole on Friday.
“Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) is set to complete the project within two years. The project plan involves re-zoning of the 35 distribution zones in the city and developing a drinking water distribution network spanning 605.30 km. Through this initiative, 51,340 household connections will be set up, ensuring improved drinking water supply to every house,” the Minister said.
The project’s primary objective is to modernise the city’s water supply system and ensure the availability of drinking water 24 hours a day, rather than just at specific times.
