The aftermath of a road crash At least 40 people have died, and 180 others sustained injuries in 33 road crashes reported across the country in the first 20 days of August, the Kenya Red Cross Society has said.
The latest figures mark a rise from the statistics the humanitarian organisation released earlier this month, when it reported 31 deaths and 75 serious injuries from 23 crashes in the first 13 days of August.
“23 crashes. 31 lives lost. 75 seriously injured in just 13 days of August,” the Kenya Red Cross said at the time.
The latest figures mean seven additional crashes and nine more deaths have been recorded in the seven days since the earlier update, while the number of casualties has more than doubled.
