4 dead, 4 injured after crash on Calgary's Stoney Trail

A multi-vehicle collision on Calgary's Stoney Trail resulted in four deaths and four injuries. Police are investigating impairment and excessive speed as potential factors in the crash.

Officers were called to Stoney Trail just north of 90th Avenue S.W. around 11 p.m.
Police say they believe a 30-year-old man driving a southbound Mercedes-Benz in the wrong lane — with a woman and child in the passenger seats — crashed into a Subaru with one occupant, a 43-year-old man.
"Following the impact, both vehicles caught fire. A Chevrolet Equinox operated by a 52-year-old woman then struck the Mercedes-Benz," police wrote.
As a result of the collision, the occupants of the Mercedes were pronounced deceased at the scene, police said.
The driver of the Subaru was also pronounced deceased at the scene.
