JACKSON, Tenn. (WBBJ) - The 36th annual African Street Festival brought culture, music and community together in Jackson.
The festival is hosted by the Society for African American Cultural Awareness. It celebrated African American heritage through entertainment, art, food and local vendors.
Attendees enjoyed live performances from musicians, dancers, poets and other artists. Families took part in children’s activities, health screenings and African drum classes.
Calandria Currie, owner of Freshen Her, said the festival showcases what she hopes others will take away from the event and the African American community.
