The Government Railway Police said Kannan, a daily wage worker, from Sathyavani Muthu Nagar in Ennore, was crossing the tracks after dropping his father off at the station when the train hit him. He sustained a head injury and died on the spot. Passers-by informed the police, who sent his body for a post-mortem.
