₹323-cr. survey for sea protection wall along Uppada coast begins
IIT Madras experts have begun technical surveys for a ₹323-crore sea protection wall along the Uppada coast in Kakinada. The project, funded by the National Disaster Management Fund, aims to prevent coastal erosion.

Experts from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras have launched technical surveys, including shoreline and bathymetric surveys, for a protection wall proposed to be built with ₹323 crore along the Uppada coast in Kakinada district.
Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Environment and Forest K. Pawan Kalyan stated in a release that the IIT Madras experts are engaged in the technical studies and surveys of the Uppada coast for the proposed sea protection wall.
“The ongoing studies and surveys are part of preparing a Detailed Project Report before obtaining environmental clearance from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change for the construction of the sea protection wall,” Mr. Pawan Kalyan said.
