The Caswell County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting occurred before 8 a.m. on Brooks Road in the Prospect Hill area.
Three people died while one person was taken to Duke University Hospital with a gunshot wound. That person's condition is unknown.
When asked about the relationship between the suspect and victims, Caswell County Sheriff Tony Durden said: "All members were in the same family."
