29 school vehicles found carrying excess students in Udupi

Udupi district police in India conducted a week-long drive to inspect school transport vehicles for safety violations. They booked 43 vehicles for issues including exceeding passenger capacity and improper driver uniforms.

Continuing the drive to check vehicles carrying school children, the Udupi district police booked 43 vehicles for traffic violations and collected fine of ₹30,800. The drive was held in the period between July 20 and July 27.
In a press note, the police said, in the period, they checked 204 school buses, 69 mini buses, 65 autorickshaws and 33 cars. As many as 29 vehicles were found carrying students in excess of permitted capacity. In five vehicles, drivers were not wearing uniform.
