The Andhra Pradesh Health Department has stepped up precautionary measures to tackle the recent rise in COVID-19 cases, with government hospitals prepared to provide testing and treatment. Acting on the directions of Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav, the department has ensured the availability of testing kits, medicines, dedicated COVID-19 beds, personal protective equipment (PPE) and other essential medical supplies.
At a recent review meeting, the Minister said there was no need for panic and asked the Health Department to remain vigilant and ensure immediate testing and treatment for people with COVID-19 symptoms. Health Secretary G. Veerapandian held a virtual review meeting with Director of Secondary Health Services Chakradhar Babu, Director of Medical Education Vishnuvardhan, officials of the Public Health Department, the Andhra Pradesh Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation (APMSIDC) and other agencies. Officials were asked to draw up phased contingency plans based on the experience of previous COVID-19 waves.
