25-year-old Gen Z techie earning Rs 1.8 lakh says Bengaluru homes are unaffordable

A 25-year-old cybersecurity professional earning Rs 1.8 lakh a month in Bengaluru says he was “humbled” by housing prices after discovering that even a Rs 1.3 crore budget may not be enough for the kind of home he wants. For the young professional, buying a home initially appeared to be a realistic goal. Coming from a middle-class family, he said he has always been careful about his spending and does not spend heavily on lifestyle expenses. He chooses to ride a scooter to work instead of buying a car and currently lives alone in a paying guest accommodation. He said his monthly living expenses come to around Rs 31,000.
