The country’s political space has seen too many upheavals that question her continued democratic sustainability, with some school of thoughts opining that the 2027 general election might not hold. Their argument is hinged on the plethora of electoral violence and voter apathy witnessed in every election cycle, and the ‘body language ‘ of the election umpire – the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Some are even of the view that there might not be an opposition party in the 2027 presidential election – if politicians, especially those of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), sustain the current anti-democratic intrigues and threats against opposition political parties.
