President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has vowed that he would deliver free, fair and credible election, against the backdrop of allegations that he may be working hand-in-glove with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other government agencies to compromise the 2027 general election. The president also restated the independence of the INEC, which has attracted reactions from many Nigerians. Observers have, however, said that INEC’s behaviours since the appointment of Joash Amupitan may have given some controversial indications of a Commission that was not completely independent.
