2026 NSMQ: Accra Academy breaks jinx; qualifies to finals for very first time
Accra Academy has qualified for the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) grand finale for the first time in its history. The school will compete against PRESEC-Legon and St Augustine’s College for the championship title in September.

Accra Academy has broken its long-standing semi-final jinx in the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), qualifying for the grand finale for the first time in the school’s history.
The historic feat came after a commanding performance in the semi-final, where Accra Academy finished top of a three-school contest with 54 points.
Bright SHS followed with 44 points, while Achimota School ended the contest on 43 points.
Accra Academy maintained its lead from the opening round through to the final round, holding off a strong challenge from the two schools to secure its place in the final.
The qualification ends years of disappointment for the school, which had repeatedly struggled to progress beyond the later stages of the competition.
