Along with insurance premiums and utility bills, government services are probably the hardest category to earn credit card rewards in Singapore. Most credit cards have long excluded these transactions from earning points or miles, and the few workarounds have largely been nerfed (RIP GrabPay and SimplyGo Mastercard ).

That said, it’s not completely hopeless, and in this post we’ll cover the (limited) alternatives.

HDB season parking and other government-related payments are generally ineligible for credit card rewards While government services technically use the entire MCC range from 9000 to 9999, the one you’ll encounter the most frequently is MCC 9399 Government Services (Not Elsewhere Classified).
