The Sivaganga POCSO Special Court has sentenced a youth to 20 years rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting and impregnating a girl in the district.
Chithravelu, 24, a native of Muthukkadu near Peravurani in Thanjavur district, made a living by travelling to villages and setting up sheep pens. In 2023, he set up a sheep pen near Sivaganga. He sexually assaulted a local girl, who was studying in Class IX, causing her to become pregnant.
Based on a complaint, Sivaganga All Women Police registered a case and arrested Chithravelu.
