KANPUR: One trainee pilot and another instructor pilot were killed after a twin-engine training aircraft crashed in a field near Natthupurwa village, close to Ganga Barrage, in Kanpur on Thursday afternoon.Commissioner of police Raghubir Lal told reporters that a four-seater, twin-engine Tecnam aircraft, which had taken off from the Garg Aviation Training Center at around 11.30am, crashed around 11.50am under Gwaltohi police station limits in the outer area of Nathapurwa village."The accident resulted in the deaths of instructor Sachin Bhatia from Gujarat and trainee Abhishek Pujari from Karnataka," he added.The aircraft was a Tecnam P2006T operated by Garg Aviation, which has one such aircraft in its Kanpur fleet.The aircraft type and registration are yet to be officially confirmed by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).The crash comes two months after a woman cadet pilot from New Delhi was injured after being struck by a running propeller while deboarding a twin-engine training aircraft at Garg Aviation's Flying Training Organisation (FTO) in Kanpur.The June 26 incident occurred after a night instructional sortie on a Tecnam P2006T aircraft, registered VT-NBV.
