The Ramapuram police arrested two men for allegedly assaulting a 27-year-old man at his house and extorting ₹1,300 from him after meeting him through Grindr, a social networking and dating app.

The accused were identified as Manikandan, 26, of Mugalivakkam, and Jitheshkannan, 25, of Alapakkam.

The police seized a mobile phone and a two-wheeler allegedly used by them.

According to the police, the complainant, Dillibabu, 27, of Ramapuram, had befriended Manikandan through Grindr. On September 29 night, Manikandan and Jitheshkannan allegedly visited Dillibabu’s house, abused and assaulted him, and threatened him to send them ₹1,300 through GPay.
