Energy Minister C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar on Tuesday said the reduction in wind energy and an extended summer were the reasons for the prevailing power shortage in the State.

Stating that these factors had led to load shedding in some parts of the State, he added that the problem had been overcome by purchasing more than 2,000 MW of power from the open market.
