2,000 MW bought from open market to overcome shortage of electricity, says Minister
Energy Minister C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar announced that the state has purchased 2,000 MW of power from the open market to address a 3,000 MW deficit. The shortage was caused by an unexpected spike in demand due to hot weather and a reduction in wind energy generation.

Stating that these factors had led to load shedding in some parts of the State, he added that the problem had been overcome by purchasing more than 2,000 MW of power from the open market.
