Following the directions of Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar following his visit to the APMC Market in Yeshwanthpur, Bengaluru City Police and Labour Department officials rescued 19 child labourers, including children from Bihar, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, who were allegedly employed at shops in the market.
The Chief Minister visited the APMC Market within the jurisdiction of RMC Yard Police Station on Tuesday morning and interacted with farmers, labourers and traders to hear their grievances. During the visit, members of the public reportedly informed him that children were being employed at some shops.
Following his directions, five special teams comprising ACPs, police inspectors of the North Division, and Labour Inspectors were formed under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, North Division.
