16 years on, Kenya’s gender promise faces its 2027 test

The 2010 Constitution entrenched equality and non-discrimination and required that no more than two-thirds of members of elective or appointive bodies should be of the same gender.
Yet the latest data shows women remain under-represented in many of the institutions where major political and economic decisions are made.
